Cash - Closing Status 24 Aug

I have invested into Valuetronics 25 lots this week under Cash portfolio. Its share price gone into after XD on 23 July.  In its 1Q13 results, revenue was higher 20% yoy but at lower profit margin because of product mix.  Inventories, Receivables, Bank balances and Trade Payables are also higher but l reckon these are due to effect of higher revenue in 1Q13. Valuetronics ceased its loss making Licensing business and will be recording its termination expenditure in next quarter (2Q13).  I think this is an important development as it continues to be forward looking and not hesitate on Adaptability to a changing marketplace.

SRS - Closing Status 24 Aug

New Toyo declared a lower dividend payout of $0.80 versus previous year's $0.97.  This is probably the reason for its share price softness recently.  I have already received my first round of advance dividend of $60 (actual would be 8 lots x $0.80 = $64) and now hoping to get a second round of it when l have re-invested into New Toyo 20 lots this week under SRS portfolio. But this time round it is probably slightly lower at around $140 ---> expected advance dividend to 'receive' 20 lots x $0.80 = $160 versus (1) selling at $0.285, gain of $140 or (2) selling at $0.29, gain of $240.  Even if l am stuck with this investment, l continue to believe New Toyo management is able to bring more business and profit despite its divestment of profitable associate company Shanghai Asia Holdings.  New Toyo also sold off its loss making Pakistan subsidiary.  Future revenue would be affected due to plain packaging guidelines in Australia starting from Dec'12 but unlikely to cause huge impact on its profit because of corresponding cost of production reduction.  New Toyo is definitely not resting on its laurels as it is actively seeking Infinite Possibilities.

I have also invested into Valuetronics 25 lots this week under SRS portfolio. Cash - Closing Status 17 Aug

Received a mail from CDP this week on KSH whereby l have been given 500 shares as bonus issue.  Adding this to my existing 5 lots so KSH average costs is now lowered slightly.  But l have decided to sell 5 lots away this week at break-even for re-investment use.  I do not fancy odd lots as there is no odd lots market and l understand that it can be disposed off only if l am willing to incur the extra brokerage fees.

CPF - Closing Status 10 Aug

I have sold SembCorp Industries 2 lots this week.  I have set its exit selling price to be much lower than its normal annual dividend rate of around $0.15 (or a much lower gain than $300).  With an investment time frame of just one week, l have managed to sell it off for a gain of $286.  Will re-invest into SembCorp Industries again if its share price weakens.

Received the CPF Investment statement from the bank this week and it showed a dividend received from SingPost for $275.

This week l have sold away Noble Group 20 lots.  I have positioned my exit selling price against its recent dividend rate declared at $0.0209 (for $418 gain).  But as the current stock market is rather choppy so l have decided to exit Noble at around half the dividend rate for a gain of $247.

Received the SRS statement from the bank this week which showed a dividend received on SingPost for $300.

For the Cash portfolio this week, l have invested into Boustead 10 lots.  I am attracted to its orders secured in 2012 valued at $397M; which is 2nd highest level of orders secured in past seven years.  Anyway, l am likely to sell Boustead away when it reaches my exit selling price; same as any other shares whenever they are already in a profit status.

Received a cheque early this week on dividends from UMS for $120.

Cash - Closing Status 3 Aug

Sold off my positions in Noble Group, Goodpack, Karin and QAF this week under the Cash portfolio.

QAF
I have set the exit selling price on QAF at an anticipated dividend rate of $0.01 for minimal gain of $150 on 15 lots.  Based on previous years, the timing of XD would be in early Sept month.  But as its share price already moved up to my exit selling price so there is no reason to hold back from selling away my 15 lots.  l have managed to sell it off at a higher exit selling price of a gain of $226 so it is an advance payment on the dividend and at a higher dividend payout rate too.

Karin
I am not sure how the recent slowdown in the China economy would impact Karin's business there so l have decided to divest the entire 8 lots in this week at a lower exit selling price than the original target at $0.27 or higher for a $38 gain.  I will be looking into its future financial results releases to assess its business health before deciding  on reinvestment to it.

Noble Group
I have booked a $98 gain on Noble this week on 8 lots.  Will reinvest into Noble if its price weakens again.

Goodpack
On Goodpack, l have anticipated its yet-to-be annnounced dividend rate at $0.03 which would be the same as in 2011.  In this week, l have managed to get an advance dividend payment on Goodpack when l have sold it all away for a gain of $199 which is slightly higher than the assumed dividend amount of $180 (6 lots x $0.03).  If its share price weakens again to an attactive level then l would consider re-investing in it.  This is because Goodpack seems able to grow both its revenue and profit even when the world economies are facing challenging times now.

I have invested into SembCorp Industries 2 lots this week.  It is a well diversified businesses; and also with its 86% of turnover is from Singapore so faster strategical decisions can be executed quicky. Its recently announced 1H12 results are so solid.  Looking forward of divesting it soon at exit selling price of much lesser than an assumed dividend rate of $0.15 because of current choppy market behavior.

Cash - Closing Status 27 Jul

Last week movements under Cash portfolio as follows:-

IHH
I have never invested in any shares under IPO and IHH was my first time into it.  I have decided not to keep IHH and sold it off its first day of trading at a profit of $79.

Ascendas Hospitality Trust
I have managed to get 1 lot of Ascendas Hospitality Trust and have decided to sell it off on the first day of trading and suffered brokerage costs of $28.

Technics Oil & Gas
I have invested into Technics Oil 10 lots last week as l was attracted to its high dividend rate declared.  I have set the exit selling price based the dividend amount.  However, knowing that it is going XD in a week's time so l have decided to divest all of it within the week at a lower exit selling price.

Noble Group
Noble is a well diversified company (into three core areas) with the biggest segment being in energy.  And its business presence is every where in every corner of the world.  I reckon Noble is able to divert its management resources and funds easily to stay agile to business needs in order to stay profitable.  Prices of primary produce has been very volatile but l reckon this setback is only short term and by its next financial year, Noble will be back to regain its past glory.  This week, l have invested 8 lots into Nobel.
